Q Instructions Step 1: Read the assignment instructions for how to do the Leadership Interview Paper and review the Writing and Research Resources located on Brightspace, just below the syllabus link on the left panel. Step 2: Decide on whom you'd like to interview for the paper. I want this to be a networking opportunity for you, and I've had many students successfully interview their current boss's boss, someone at a company they wanted to work for, someone they found on LinkedIn that has their dream job, etc. Think about a career field you'd like to learn more about and use this as a chance to learn what it takes to be a leader in that industry. Step 3: Review the "how to write an email" slides to help you with this assignment: How to Write an Email.pdf Step 4: Write a draft of the email you intend to send to your top choice to interview for the leadership paper. Include the recipient's full name, title, organization, and email address in this draft (I will not contact them, don't worry). Below the email, please include the 15 behaviorally based interview questions you plan to ask, as described in the Leadership Paper Assignment instructions. This pre-paper assignment is 10 points under the participation category. No late submissions will be accepted. 2 points: Name and details of your interview choice 4 points: Professionally written email draft requesting an interview 4 points: 15 behaviorally-based interview questions that cover topics in the readings and class materials Step 5: Send your email! Try to schedule your interview several weeks before the interview paper is due to give yourself time to write it and enough time to find an alternate person to interview in case it doesn't work out. If your interviewee declines and you need to ask someone else, or if you update your interview questions, you do NOT need to notify me. I trust you! This assignment is intended to get you working on the project and contacting perspective leaders to interview.
